Integrated Family service

I was quite happy with the Family Service on Sunday. We tried to respond to the criticism from the previous service. Despite the politics that preceded the Family Service on Friday, I though the more integrated approach worked well.

The teens dropped the ball by forgetting to take up the offering.
The Fathers day video clip from Worship House media was powerful.
The sermon did not connect with teens and kids as I had hoped it would.
Spent today babysitting because of a taxi strike.

The de - churched

I have been thinking allot lately about how we teach kids about having a relationship with God. Have been really challenged by Soul Revolution by John Burke. A relationship with God that is active throughout the day. a talking and listening relationship with God. A listening and obedient relationship with God.

A day off

How do Youth Pastors spend their day off. This morning I had breakfast with some friends at Cappuccino's at Northgate. Then I was very naughty, I went to the office for a few minutes to get a laptop that someone donated, set up by Jack our computer guy. Then I fetched my daughter and her friend from school and we went to the park. When we finally arrived at my house we ended up playing some computer games on our favorite Barney games website.

Blessed are the peacemakers

I had a weird experience on Sunday night, trying to be a peacemaker, between two people who's relationship had broken down. It was hard to discern the truth from the lies. I learnt that there really are always two sides to a story.

I am glad that I took the day off today. It was great spending time with my wife.

Sat eve

It's Saturday evening. As usual, rubbish on TV.

Tomorrow Richard and i will be manning the registration table for Sunday School. I am also leading worship with the Grade 1-6's. Chimwmemwe is leading Teen Church. I am preaching on Nehemiah Ch 3 at the evening service. And also leading worship with cd's because we do not currently have a worship team.

I am a terrible blogger

I have been really inspired by some of the bloggers out their. The way that they share information and resources about Youth Ministry. As a result, i am going to try to rise to the blogger challenge. 2 years at Randpark Ridge United have simply flown past. We have made alot of progress, but we still have a long way to go. I really love the people I work with. Especially those in Youth and Childrens ministry. They are all awesome.

Wow - reading that old blog about margate makes me realise just how much God has blessed me. He had the best in mind for me. Thank You Lord. It is such a great priviledge to be here where you wanted me. Thank You for leading me. Thank you for blessing me. Thank You for a new challenge!!
